Poetic way to ask a question

I've got a question that
I've always wanted to ask
but never had the guts
so I will ask you
and I hope you do not think I'm nuts.

Lets see what happens

I think the great thing about sports is the anticipation. When game time approaches, or a season is on the horizon, I can not help but ask myself, "I wonder how this will turn out"?To clarify my own sense of curiosity, I have put together a bunch of questions .As time goes by, and these questions are answered I will enjoy looking back at them. So, without any more statements lets get on with the questions!

  • Long term: How many wins will Randy Johnson get during the regular season in 2005?
How many will he get in the post season?
How many will he get in the world series?

How many home runs will Carlos Beltran hit in 2005?(regular season there won't be any post season this year for Carlos)

How many bases will he steal?

Short term
How many TD passes will Peyton Manning throw vs the Patriots Sunday Jan 16th?
How well will the Patriots do defending against Manning's aeriel circus?
How many interceptions will he throw?
Will it be a high scoring game?
The forecast is for 30 degree temperatures and sunny skies will it actually be that @ game time?(that will strongly effect his performance,I believe)
Will the field by sloppy thanks to the Patriots' intentional negligence?

How will the Jets do against Pittsburgh?
Last time the were held to two 40 yard field goals. Will they get a touchdown Saturday?
Pennington looked horrendous last time they played back on Dec 12th, how will he do?
Will he get over 200 yards passing?
Will Pittsburgh native, Curtis Martin have a good game?
Last time he was held to 72 yards rushing, below his league rushing title of 1697 yards, an average of 106 yards per game. Will he get over 100 yards rushing the ball? On the On the other side of the ball, will young Ben Roethlisberger be asked to make a big play?
If he is, how will he do?
How passes will he throw?
How many will he complete?
How many for a TD?
Will the bus continue to roll?
Will Jerome Bettis out gain Martin?

Like I said," this is fun"!I can ask more about Vick,McNabb,Culpepper and the Ram wideouts, but without any specifics who be @ the NFL's final four?
My guess, Pats,Steelers,Eagles and Falcons. After all lets be real, they are all @ home for the game, the fought for that position all year, and they are 14-2,15-1,13-3, 11-5 respectively. That is far better than their opponents this weekend. For the record the Colts are 13-4, Jets 11-6, Vikings 9-8 and the Rams are 9-8.

Another Day To Reflect

On this date for the past 8 years or so I have found myself thinking about the completion of a Yankee season today is no different.I remember the first Yankee and Red Sox preseason game. The tickets for the game being played in Florida were for about 1500 dollars. The big reason was because Arod who was suppose to be a Red Sox became a Yankee to the shock of everyone by the mere coincidence that the 3rd baseman the Yankees thought would be starting the season Aaron Boone injured his knee while playing pick up basketball. When it was clear Boone was through for the season the Yanks were in a quandry out of the blue Arod was approached and landed in a trade that sent Alfonzo Soriano to Texas for the best player in baseball. The Yankees had pulled of an incredible coo for all off season the Red Sox thought it was a done deal. The only fly in the ointment was the player association would not allowArod lower his contract to fit into a Boston uniform. So Brian Cashman general manager of the Yanks asked Arod's agent Scott Boras if Arod would like to play 3rd base and play for the Yankees. Now the rest they say is history. Since the baseball season has been over I have come to the conclusion exactly what the heck happened against the Red Soxhttp://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/team/player.jsp?player_id=134320.Here is my take on it.The at the outset had a team not constructed to win a tough best of seven series. After last year's loss to the Marlins in six games the Yankees wound up in a position of having to dealing with a depleted pitching staff. With Andy Pettitte the team's 21 game winner and David Wells a post season stalwart for years gone, the Yanks were indeed in a deficit for quality pitching. As the season began most of the pundits agreed where is the pitching?Who could blame them. The roll call was not that of post season quality. There was Javier Vasquez,Kevin Brown,Jose Contreas and Mike Mussina. That my friend is slim pickings.Mussina in 2003 had pitched well in Game 7 of the ALCS thanks to his awesome rellief performance he was able to hold the Red Sox at 4 runs and gave the pinstripes a chance to comeback and win their 39th pennant. However the rest of the guys KB, JC,JV, were untested in the big games for the Yanks.
The 2004 season rolled on without too many telling signs until the Yankees built up a 10 1/2 game lead every thought two things 1) the Red Sox were dead 2) Yanks were going to roll to their 7th straight division title. They, who ever they are, were wrong on both counts. After the Red sox cut the Yankee lead down to 2 games it looked like the Yanks were going to copy one of the worst collapse in baseball history. Just as a sidebar here is a funny post i put in to my fantasy football message boards.

Since baseball ended with a Red Sox dagger to the pinstriped heart and the Giants are an odd lot and the Knicks are clowns and with the next Ranger faceoff frozen in midair what else is there? But an unofficial Monday Night Football update from Ct Demo-----IT looks this way Mark is in @66 points . Jason needs Marcus Robinson to get 15.5 to tie .I need 25.5 from Marvin Harrison to tie.Ron is looking for 31.6 from Edge to tie.Sean needs a 44.9 from Mr Culpepper to tie.At this point if anyone gets 66 plus points they should win.Either way it should be an interesting night. If I misled anyone with inaccurate info please let me know, you can reach me at www.whatdahellis goinonhere.com

In time we see all

Welcome to a new chapter in baseball folk lore. The once extremely prideful New York Yankees winners of 26 World Championships now have a blemish on their name. Thanks in great part to the Boston Red Sox.The old shoe the Yanks have kicked around for a long time.Yogi Berra the great hall of fame catcher once told a young Bernie Williams "Don't worry about the Red Sox we have been playing them for 80 years they can not beat us".Well Yog you're right for 80 years you had them, however this recent edition of pinstripes let them get away.Yes Virginia, they let the cat out of the bag.Now the record for biggest collapse in baseball post season history lies at the feet of the New york Yankees. As a Yankee fan that hurts ouch!

We've come full circle

Welcome to a blog. This is a blog I hope is not like any other. My point in creating this blog is to speak my mind primarily about sports.Confessing now that I love sports is no great surprise.I started loving sports when I was a very young boy.Playing sports was how I remember rolling the time away. The great part about sports is I never new what time it was.All I knew was that when it was day time I played and when it was night time I stopped.Whenever I hear or see the word halcyon I think of those countless days of playing sports without a care in the world.
While those days are gone the pleasant memories live on in my mind.Finding those days and times bring me back so vividly to moments I loved so much.Watching sports today brings me much joy because my main thought and pleasure is derived from my love of the pastime. With all that said I have a strong urge to give my views of todays sports. My favorites teams to follow are Yankees,NY Giants,NY Rangers,NY Knicks, Notre Dame football and UConn basketball.Believe me it is in that order of interest.Although as I have grown older I have a stronger interest in baseball than all the other sports.Baseball allows you to embrace it more than all the other sports it leaves you in mid fall and comes back in early spring.During the winter in sends you reminders of the great opportunities that lie ahead. Those warm summer days and nights, the potential of the next pennant race.In essence, its always there.Football which by far was my first love does not have the staying power that baseball does.I used to play football just about every day during the week during football season so I was always thinking about football however once I stopped playing football I did not think of it every day during the season.Only when the anticipation grew for the next game which started on Friday.
I am feeling pretty flushed right now of exciting insight so I going to take a break from my thoughts on this subject for now.My objective of this forum will be to impart to me and whomever reads this a brief synopsis of the thoughts on my mind on any given day.I hope I was able to accomplish that today.
